This week’s pensions industry movers and shakers, including IGG and the ICAEW 

Professional trustee provider Independent Governance Group (IGG) has appointed Clare Kember as its head of outsourced governance services.  

Kember has over 20 years of scheme governance and trusteeship experience and was appointed as a trustee director in April 2022, having worked for IGG for eight years prior to this.  

She succeeds John Lovell, trustee director and previous head of outsourced governance services. Lovell will retire at the end of the year.

The ICAEW appoints Alan Vallance

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ (ICAEW) has appointed Alan Vallance as its chief executive officer. Vallance will replace Michael Izza, who is due to retire in spring 2024.  

Vallance is currently the chief executive of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Prior to this, he was chief executive of RIBA from 2016 to 2022.  

The Financial Reporting Council’s CEO, Richard Moriarty, welcomed Vallance to his new role. Moriarty said: “Congratulations to Alan on his appointment as CEO of the ICAEW. I look forward to working closely with him on shared challenges and opportunities to support the important public interest work carried out by the accountancy profession.” 

Sackers hires three newly qualified lawyers

Law firm Sackers has hired three newly qualified lawyers as associates. Abigail Lynch, Navina Bagri and Imogen Dodd have joined the firm, taking Sackers' number of qualified lawyers to 70.
