The latest hires, promotions and appointments for the week ending 12 July 2024.

Public policy expert Gregg McClymont is to join the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association’s (PLSA) board in October.

McClymont’s appointment comes as the pensions sector seems set to play a greater role in supporting UK economic growth – as reflected in recent government appointments.

He is a former Labour politician who served as the shadow pensions minister between 2011 to 2015. He is currently an executive director at IFM Investors, and has previously worked at the People’s Partnership and Aberdeen Asset Management.

McClymont has also held other PLSA roles in the past, including chairing the association’s Master Trust Committee and working as a non-executive director for the Pensions Quality Mark.

Julian Mund, the PLSA’s chief executive, said: “Gregg is an ideal fit for the PLSA, bringing with him senior parliamentary and industry experience and, in his current role with IFM Investors, a track record of supporting pension funds to invest in productive finance assets globally.

“His skillset will significantly boost the policy and advocacy work of the PLSA and help us achieve our goals beyond the general election. I look forward to welcoming him to the board.”

Non-exec addition at Trafalgar House

Administration company Trafalgar House has appointed Ben Leonard as a non-executive director on its board.

He is the CEO and founder of fintech company Life Moments, and previously worked in banking. Trafalgar House said Leonard’s experience in technology and data use in financial services made him “an ideal addition” to the board.

Soren Fogtdal, chairperson at Trafalgar House Pensions Administration, said administration was “getting the attention it rightly deserves and badly needs”, prompted by major projects such as the equalisation of guaranteed minimum pensions and preparation for pension dashboards.

“We have ambitious objectives for growth and innovation, as well as our ongoing commitment to drive up industry standards,” Fogtdal said.
