The latest hires, promotions and appointments for the week ending 30 August 2024.
Catherine McFadyen has been promoted to head of pensions at Hymans Robertson, overseeing its public and private pension services across five areas.
McFadyen was previously head of consulting for Hymans’ Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) offering and has worked for the consultancy for more than 20 years.
She takes over the head of pensions role from Richard Shackleton. Hymans said Shackleton would focus on providing actuarial and strategic advice.
McFadyen is now responsible for overseeing Hymans Robertson’s private and public sector actuarial teams, as well as its investment and defined contribution consulting units and its third-party administration business.
She said: “The past few years have been a period of intense activity for the pensions market, and I’m thrilled to take on this role at such an exciting time for pensions with a new minister and government in place.
“The next five years will be pivotal as the government looks to address adequacy for savers, consolidation and investment in the UK.”
Hymans appoints LGPS service leaders
With McFadyen relinquishing some of her LGPS leadership responsibilities, Hymans Robertson has appointed Rob Bilton as head of LGPS actuarial and Robbie McInroy as head of LGPS client consulting.
Both have worked at Hymans for more than 15 years, having started as graduates.
McFadyen said: “As I take on my new role, I’ll be maintaining my LGPS client appointments and presence in the LGPS market. However, at a time of government focus on the LGPS, Rob and Robbie will bring exceptional leadership to our internal teams and fantastic support, thought leadership and service to our LGPS clients.”
