Esther McVey, member of parliament for Tatton, has been appointed as the secretary of state for work and pensions.
David Gauke, her predecessor, has been chosen as the new secretary of state for justice and lord chancellor. He replaces David Lidington.
The moves come as part of Prime Minister Theresa May’s latest Cabinet reshuffle. Gauke was appointed to his previous brief at the Department for Work and Pensions in June 2017. He had previously served as chief secretary to the Treasury.
Justine Greening, who has been replaced as secretary of state for education, reportedly turned the vacancy at the DWP down.
