On the go: The Pensions Dashboards Programme has issued an invitation to tender for a supplier to provide digital architecture.
Finding such a supplier is deemed an important milestone in the implementation of the dashboards as it will be responsible for creating the systems that allow people to find and view their pensions, as well as consent and authorisation processes.
The supplier will also be responsible for providing the governance register, which provides assurances that different elements of the dashboards ecosystem — including the dashboards themselves, the identity services, the pension finder service and connections to pension schemes — meet the required standards.
The PDP undertook two pre-tender engagement exercises with suppliers, the first in July 2020 and the second in February of this year, to finalise the digital architecture requirements.
A similar but separate exercise has been undertaken with respect to the identity verification service part of the dashboard architecture. The deadline for suppliers to submit their tender is May 28.
Chris Curry, principal of the PDP at the Money and Pensions Service, acknowledged that pension providers, schemes, administrators and trustees “want certainty and detail around timings and requirements for the delivery of pensions dashboards”.
“With the support and co-operation of interested suppliers, we’ve been able to outline clear requirements for the dashboards’ digital architecture,” he said.
“The procurement and onboarding of this technical delivery partner is a key moment in our journey.
“It will enable us to provide our industry partners with more detailed information as we work towards the delivery of pensions dashboards over the coming months.”
